Yeah! I'm pretty proud of this and I plan to use it for my icon on a few websites.
You can kinda see that I'm starting to mess with my style again. I definitely love this and I think I'll try to incorporate it into my normal drawings. If you're wondering who this is: This is a new character of mine! Her name is Aster and she's (somehow) a hyena and a leopard hybrid. Like me, she loves pizza. I will probably use her to represent myself in my drawings, so look out for her! As for the announement: As the fall rolls in, I might not be able to post as often. I'll still try to draw in my spare time and get something up on here, but who knows! Anyway, thanks for understanding!

You missed her, didn't you? Come on...I know you did!
Finally, it was June! Denali had returned home from her travels in time to celebrate what the humans called "The Wild Chase." It was a holiday that her pack had celebrated for generations, and, one of her favorite holidays in all of Azorna. Through the Wild Chase, or "N'yaket," as her pack called it, Denali had learned the values of fair and friendly competition. Through "helping" her parents gather feathers, since she was always too young to join in the contest herself, she was taught the basics of stalking and pouncing on prey. She was also taught how to identify which feathers, and the scents they carried with them, were from dangerous birds and which were from prey animals. Needless to say, N'yaket holds a special place in Denali's heart. As such, Denali quickly rushed back to her den and threw on her pack's traditional holiday garments, specially made, both for her and for N'yaket, and rushed off to the marketplace to socialize and get into the holiday spirit. Impressing her friends was a nice bonus. This year, she was going to enter the gathering contest. But first, she was going to have to find a safe place to put her cloak, since it would be cheating otherwise. I got a lil bored so I decided to just doodle. So, from left to right:
You've got a winged equine creature, a true-to-life doodle of me doodling, a slightly-more-than-annoyed deer, a "lizord" requested by my friend, and a lil' red panda friend. I think I'm actually going to take that doodle of me and polish it up. Hey hey! Who knew that .gifs worked on blog posts? I didn't!
I was looking at my little dancing animations on the homepage and I said to myself, "I need more Squish in my life." So here we are with another animated Squish, in a larger size for your viewing pleasure. A lil cute loopy thingy of Squish playing with his toy boat. I mean, what else are you going to do on a deserted island? It might just be because I've been staring at this all day, but he looks a bit sleepy, and I was going for a "smiling with the eyes" look, because, y'know, Squish doesn't have a jaw. He's cuter without one, trust me. It could just be that I'm tired and my eyes are deceiving me. But who knows! I'm branching out a bit with that background, but I'm loving it! I really like how this came out, especially since it's more in my cartoony style. Although it's more impressionistic, I feel that the background gives a nice sense of the rainforest. It's actually kinda inspired by a painted mask I got in Costa Rica--it has a similar impressionistic forest.
Anyway, I hope this kicks off me drawing more nature (and less AZ stuff so much) and helps me finalize and develop my digital art's style. The Sun and The Moon,
Serene yet intense, Delicate and desolate, Yet in a careful dance To avoid each other. The Lion and The Leopard. I swear I draw more than this one cat. I promise I'll post something else other than AZ soon.
I'm too tired to post anything witty here right now, so I'm going to go lie down. See y'all later. Sorry for the Arcane Zoo spam! I just thought you'd all enjoy a new painter-esque style to my backgrounds. Anyway:
It was bad enough there was a horrid rainstorm outside, practically trapping them all inside the Meeting Hall. Denali didn't mind the rain, no, it was more the threat of flooding that made her a little nervous. She couldn't stand the though of the overflowing canals outside, the deep water churning and forming into a chaotic river. She caught herself and took some deep breaths. It would be fine, the Hall was well built. One of the other, overjoyed contestants proposed an active game to pass the time: Hide and Seek. Hoping it would help her shake off some nerves, Denali decided to join in. Wandering down the halls in search of a hiding spot, she couldn't help but get an unsettling sense that there was something more going on here. |
